Who am I?

My name is Leah Gherardi.  I am a New York State Certified Special Education teacher of grades K through 12.  For 14 years I have been teaching children with Autism in the Hudson Valley of New York.
Teaching individuals with Autism is my passion.  My special interests include social skills instruction for all children on the spectrum.  My experience has been that all children can learn if presented with the right methodology. I have also found that students learn best through meaningful experiences.

Vision
I would like to use my skills to provide families in the Hudson Valley with social opportunities for their children and family members. We need to look forward and provide inclusive social opportunities for children with Autism. This means setting up social outings with children w/ Autism and children without Autism. My vision for my social skills group is to bring together children with Autism and children without Autism to learn social skills together and plan social outings.

The vision for my website calendar is to be a tool for planning after school activities, play dates or mini excursions to local establishments.
