Who am I?
My name is Leah Gherardi. I am a New York State Certified Special Education Teacher of grades K through 12. For 15 years I have been teaching children with Autism in the Hudson Valley of New York.
Teaching individuals with Autism is my passion. My special interests include Social Skills instruction for children on and off the spectrum. My experience has been that children learn best if presented with the right opportunities to socialize in a safe space. Participants are given the skills and opportunity to develop friendships in and out of the group. Each group sets its own pace and chooses activities to participate in the community.

Vision
I would like to use my skills to provide families in the Hudson Valley with social opportunities for their children and family members. We need to look forward and provide inclusive social opportunities for children with Autism. This means setting up social outings for children w/ Autism and children without Autism. My vision for my social skills group is to help educate and develop skills necessary for forming and maintaining friendships.
The vision for my website calendar is to be a tool for planning after school activities, play dates or mini excursions to local establishments. Please feel free to submit ideas and suggestions.
